Dear Students and Families:
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Some of you are starting school for the first time, but most of you are starting school again and know how exciting a new school year can be. New school supplies, new clothing, and new friends and old, mark the start of school. Our 40,000 employees and I are very pleased to welcome all 300,000 of you to CCSD this year, and we look forward to making this year meaningful and memorable. Our focus is on you, your safety, well-being, and academic success!
Over the past year as Superintendent, I read with students in their classrooms, celebrated awards with teachers, delivered diplomas to graduates, and dedicated new schools named after some of our community heroes. Serving as superintendent and working with parents, students, employees, and community leaders to provide excellence in education to every child who attends CCSD schools enriches this wonderful community for all our benefit.
We will continue to fulfill our Focus: 2024 goals. You can find them on ccsd.net. As we improve our college and career readiness, close the pandemic-related achievement gaps, and invest in our educators, we will improve student outcomes. Our focus on student success will start with our cabinet and leadership team, which includes several new faces similarly dedicated to access and equity throughout our school system.
The Back to School Guide provides vital information for families to plan for the upcoming school year. As always, feel free to reach out to your child’s school or the main CCSD phone line at 702-799-CCSD for more information.
Let’s have a great school year!
Dr. Jesus F. Jara, Superintendent of Schools
